Arsenal v Wigan

comment : Off

The FA Cup is full of surprises. You just have to look at Wigan: Winners last year and beating Man City in the quarter final this year. Arsenal have been without a trophy for almost nine years. They are the team that loves to bottle it at the last minute. They bottled the league this year, the League Cup final against Birmingham and just about every encounter with a top four side in the past ten years. Whilst they should get through, FA Cup holders Wigan could stun Arsenal and with the Gunners history in competitions, the Latics could well reach the final for the second year in a row.

Arsenal are rated at 1/2 by Sky Bet, Betfred, Bet Victor and William Hill – A good bet to take if you want to win half of what you put on, however betting on Wigan at 6/1 with Bet365 and Stan James would be much more profitable if it pays off.

Arsène Wenger will know that his job could be potentially on the line. If the Gunners lose the FA Cup there could be a backlash from the fans so Wenger will want to field a full strength side. A key man for Arsenal this year is Olivier Giroud. He is offered at 4/1 by Bet365, good odds for a striker who knows where the net is. Loanee Nick Powell is looking good odds for the Latics, he is rated at 10/1 by Bet365 and 9/1 by Skybet.

Arsenal should win the match comfortably, if they find their form and start cruising, the score could be 3-0 or more which is rated by 21/2 by Bet Victor. But if Wigan get an early goal, the Gunners’ confidence will plummet and they will lose all desire to perform and win as they have so many times this season. If Wigan win, the margin will be close, they are rated to win 1-0 by Bet Victor at 19/1.
